What do people have deeply rooted inside their drives, and how can you use this to drive engagement to your social media platforms? A summery from the Personal MBA (by Josh Kaufman)

Human Drive 1 ( To Acquire)

The first human drive we will discuss is the need to #acquire. Why do we feel like we need to acquire things? This has been a question puzzling scientist, psychologist and just about everyone in sales. This goes into evolution, and pre-ancestry DNA deep embedded into the genetics that have been carried on for centuries.

Here are the things we all want to acquire in some shape or form

1.) Tangible items such as toys, books, money, assets, cars, clothes.

2.) Intangible items such as status, power, influence, attention.

Human Drive 2 ( To Bond)

We all know there is a part of us deep inside that always has the desire to be around someone. Either family, friends, or strangers, but we always have the desire to bond at some point and time. This drive links back to survival methods used by our ancestors. Every core drive is engraved in our DNA for a reason.

Here are some of the #bonds we like to create

1.) Building relationships

We are intensely social creatures and love to interact with people in general.

Human Drive 3 ( To Learn)

Is it a coincidence that we all find a passion or a hobby? Or is it that we love to learn? Most humans are extreme learners. We all love to #learn new things, faster ways of achieving goals, and anything that will enhance our lives.

The saying goes "The more you learn the more you earn". The more we learn the more opportunities we expose ourselves to. Aristotle defined humans as learning creatures

Human Drive 4 ( To Defend)

Humans are one of the most defensive species in the animal kingdom.

Humans react very fast and most of the time aggressively when their defense mechanisms are challenged. If you think otherwise try and think of the last time someone humiliated or embarrassed you and how you felt and what you wanted to do in retaliation? Most of the time the answer is to react in a defensive manner. Its okay and very normal as you can see it is one of our important assets in our genetics.

Human Drive 5 ( Sensory)

Last, but not least, is our #sensory drive. We do the things we do due to an emotional sensory state. We either want to hear, feel, touch, taste, and see. The reason most of us go out and do anything will fall within one of these sensory categories.

How to incorporate the 5 Human Drives to drive #socialmedia engagement?

Tip:

There are thousands if not millions of ways to use these drives, to drive traffic into your social media platforms. The most important drive is sensory. You always want to make people associate a positive feeling to your online presence. The more emotions you can trigger, the better. Another great tip is to try an incorporate as many drives together as possible to create extreme attention and engagement for your #followers. Even simply using two of these drives together, can completely change your online presence.
